When most people loose hope of doing anything positive at early age. The 85 year old Kumd Bajpai resident of Lucknow setting example by stitching masks and distributing food from her personal savings.

Since the outbreak for Corona-virus Pandemic, we are facing a shortage of masks and other personal protective equipment. PM Narendra Modi announced the nationwide lock-down on March 23rd, the overnight decision was good but created a different problem. This problem is even bigger than the virus. The food shortage for daily wage workers and underprivileged are hitting harder than the COVID19.

Smt. Kumud Bajpai who stays in the Lucknow in an interview with the news agency said, “Amid the nationwide lockdown in wake of rising Covid-19 cases, it is the duty of every citizen to help the needy.” Kumud has been stitching triple-layered cotton masks for the last three weeks and distributing them in her locality to the needy.

The governments are doing different things possible to provide sufficient masks and food on their end but it’s the responsibility of every citizen to help those who are in need. People like Kumud Bajpai are an example of what an individual can achieve by doing simple things with honesty. She has been donating her time sewing masks at her home for the indigent. She has also been catering ration to the people who are fighting to earn a livelihood by contributing money from her pension and savings.

Kumud is preparing 50-70 food packets every day. Someone from her family goes and distributes it to the poor in her locality. Every day from morning till evening, her family members and she herself are totally absorbed in this social cause.

Mrs. Bajpai’s husband was in LIC and following his death, she is getting a monthly pension of Rs 10,000. Kumud buys material to suture masks and arranges food from the pension and money she has saved.

Kumud spends Rs 3000-4,000 each day on sewing masks and arranging ration for the impoverished. She says that “As of now, I am capable to handle the expense without any support. I have decided to offer support to the needy till the lockdown is in effect.”

Kumud’s daughter-in-law Smita told to news agency that, “After all the ration which is meant to be supplied to the needy is packed, we send it for distribution in the nearby localities. It is important that everyone comes forward to support the poor in this crisis.”

People like Kumud Bajpai are an example that there is no age to spread positivism in the life of others. She is also a living illustration of the fact that you do not need money but a positive intention to help others even in most difficult circumstances. The team of positive shades salutes to her work and efforts she is putting up to help the nation.
