Are you Losing your hair??

Few things we all should know about common hair loss. Healthy individuals can expect to lose 70-100 strands of head hair daily. If you are losing more than this, or the hair you lose is either not getting replaced, or it’s getting thinner, finer hair, this process called miniaturization, that means you have a problem.
Shampoos, conditioners, and hair loss prevention creams are being launched in our market almost every other day. Each one is claiming to be superior to the other. Despite all the hype, there is still no cure for this relatively benign but annoying condition.

The progressive loss of hair is called Alopecia. Baldness is its ultimate form.

The word Alopecia comes from the Greek “Alopex” which means “fox” the animal is liable to lose its fur through a disease. Alopecia is a mostly hereditary condition and is common in some individuals. For men, it typically starts from the forehead, and the hair loss continues to recede further back till only a horseshoe-shaped fringe is left on the sides. For women, there is more diffuse hair loss throughout the scalp, but they seldom get bald.
Some of the hair loss is not necessarily genetic. Hair loss in patches (alopecia areata) and hair loss all over the body (Alopecia Universalis) are thought to be caused by an autoimmune disorder. Skin diseases, excessive hair treatments, and habits like wearing the hair pulled tight and pulling out hair are also known to cause severe hair loss in children and adults.
Several disorders can cause the hair to fall out no matter what kind of hair
they have — falls prey to at least one hair problem at some point in life.
Other health conditions that can cause excess hair loss include:
- Medications such as birth control pills, antidepressants, hypertensive

- Overactive or underactive thyroid

- Staying hydrated is important for healthy hair so, make sure that you are taking enough water around 12-14 glasses of water every day, which replenishes natural minerals required for the hair. The water you consume will benefit your hair from the inside out.
- Protect your hair from the sun: If you know, youʼll be in the sun and donʼt have a hair cover up use products that have SPF protection in them or contain glycerin (which is a natural sunscreen). That will give your hair extra protection from the sun.
- Avoid using excessive hair Dryer: It is healthy to Dry your hair naturally. Blowing your Hair over dry might cause extreme dryness and damage to the cuticle which, is the outer sheath of your hair and leave your hair frizzy and Dry.
- Avoid using hot water to the scalp: During winters, do not use very hot or boiling water instead use lukewarm water which, helps to retain the moisture of your hair.
- Avoid excessive shampooing: Use a minimal amount of shampoo about 3 to 5 ml during each wash and select a shampoo that includes glycerin and collagen to help restore the moisture balance to your hair and avoid extreme hair dying as ammonia can damage the hair strands.
- Provide Deep condition more often for your hair to restore proteins to your strands for strength and to replenish moisture.
- Protect your hair before you swim during summer: Chlorine water or salty ocean water can change the color of your hair and cause it to become excessively dry. Wet your hair before you get into the pool, so that it absorbs less chlorine and coat your strands with conditioner before diving into that chlorine-filled pool.
- Itʼs better to fill your hair strands with proteins and moisturizers than water especially when your hairs are chemically processed with color.
- Get your hair trimmed if you have any idea since your hair grows faster in the summer.
- Have foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids: which include Flax seeds, walnut, and salmon species of fish. The nutrients you eat today help fortify the hair follicle from which each healthy strand is born.
- Have foods rich in anti-hair thinning receptors: Have Green Tea 2-3 cups a day, Soybeans(contradicted in the thyroid), Green leafy vegetables including spinach, Chinese cabbage, French beans. Milk, whole grains, nuts, almonds, and figs.
